The Cosmic War

This post has again been taken from a chapter in 'Wulf - The Collected Writings of an English Wodenist' and is relevant to the times that we are entering now. Again, some of it repeats what has already been said in other posts, but I see no point in leaving them out since it would alter the understanding of the work.

We need to understand the concept of ‘Cosmic Order’ and what this has meant to our Folk from the most ancient times. The word ‘Rita or R.ta stems from an IE Root *h₂r-to which means ‘properly joined’, ‘true’ or ‘right’, which gives rise to another IE Root *h₂ar-yo- from which the word ‘Arya’ derives. The Sanskrit r- means ‘to go’, ‘to rise’ and ‘to tend upwards’, and the Sanskrit rtam means ‘rule’, ‘divine law’, ‘fixed order’ and ‘truth’. The word Rita is linked to the Rit-Rune as we shall see. We can see from the above roots that the term Rita is directly linked to Arya which is a very important point.

Turning now to Iran or Persia, they have a term asa or asha which is linked to another form arta, these meaning ‘truth’ and ‘righteousness’. These terms have the same meaning as that of the Rita which originated in Aryania (India). The Norse term Orlög has the same meaning, being ‘Primal Laws’ or ‘Primal Layers’. The Greeks called this by the name ratio, the Egyptians Ma’at and these all refer to the concept of Cosmic Order.

As opposed to this idea of Cosmic Order we can find various traditions of an ‘anti-force’ or ‘anti-god’ that seeks always to bring down this Cosmic Order and create chaos and disorder. This is related to an Iranian word druj and an Indian word druh both of which mean ‘to lie’ and which stem from a PIE Root * dreugh which means ‘lie’, falsehood’, ‘fraud’ and ‘deception’. This gives rise to the German trug which means ‘fraud’ or ‘deception’; it also gives rise to the English ‘trick’ as well as the Norse draug meaning ‘sprite’ or ‘spook’ and the Sanskrit druh which can also mean ‘afflicting demon’.

In the Iranian Yasht (19:41) we find this statement – “The ‘yellow-heeled’ dragon of the druj emerges from the deep to destroy the ‘living world (creation) of Asa’.” This statement is important in that it symbolizes this Force of Chaos by a dragon or serpent. We are also faced with the possibility that the term ‘Druid’ (as later used) does not stem from dru-wid (Oak-Knowledge) but from the word druh or druj which means ‘lie’ or ‘falsehood’. Indeed, this is exactly how the Oera Linda Book describes the Druids – ‘truth-benders’. This refers to the very late 'Celtic' Druids and not the original Hyperborean Druids. This is a complex subject that I have touched upon before and I will not go into it here, but there does seem to be some questions that need asking about the 'Druids'. 

In a later ninth century Iranian text called Pahlavi it tells us that towards the End of Time Asa and Aryaman will together come upon the Earth to do battle with Az – the ‘Demon of Greed’. The term Az, if I remember rightly, means ‘serpent’. Aryaman is here seen as an epithet of the savior-figure of Iran – Saoshyans. The term Asa derives from the same IE Root as Aryaman. Asa is equivalent to the Gods and thus Aryaman to the remnant of the Arya in mankind. 

From these root-words we can deduce that the Weltanshauung of the Arya was based upon the eternal Cosmic War between the Gods (Forces of Order who upheld the Rita) and the Giants/Jotun (Forces of Chaos that sought eternally to disrupt that order and undo the creativeness of the Gods). Another way to put this is that of a belief in a Creative God who upholds Cosmic Order and Rita who is opposed by an Anti-God that seeks to bring down that Cosmic Order and Rita. The Germanic Folk saw this as a struggle between the Gods and the Joten (Giants), the Arya of Aryania (India) saw this as a struggle between the Devas (Gods) and the Asuras (anti-Gods), and the Iranians (Airyania) saw it as a struggle between Ahura Mazda (God of Light) and Ahriman (God of Darkness and Chaos).

In our own Saxon Lore we can see the god Irmin as the High God of the Arya who was responsible for upholding Cosmic Order and World Order, and his symbol was the Irminsul which stood for Cosmic Order. Irmin is often shown holding a pair of scales which represents justice and balance (order), and his weapons are the sword and spear; he also holds a White Rose (White Rose of Albion). Irmin is the equivalent to Aryaman (India) or Airyaman (Iran) and he is the High God of the Arya.

In Vedic India it was Mitra who was the ‘preserver of Rita’, and this role was undertaken by his namesake Mithra in Iran, where he was seen as the ‘preserver of asa/arta’. Both Mitra and Varuna were seen as the protectors of Rita. In Persia the Cult of Mithras was instituted in order to combat the ‘Religion of Evil’ which the prophets foretold would be established on Earth after the Forces of Light had been vanquished. We can see this as the Established Christian Church which eclipsed the Cult of Mithras and became established in Europe. In Vedic India Aryaman is spoken of jointly with Mitra and Varuna. Mitra and Varuna are brothers, the sons of Aditi, the ‘Mother of the Gods’. The term ‘aditi’ means ‘not bound’, ‘not limited’ i.e. ‘the infinite’.

One of the most important points we need here to note is the reference to the IE Root *dreugh giving rise to the English word ‘trick’ for this can explain the concept of the Trickster and in particular the figure of Loki the Trickster. It is usual to see this figure as a playful ‘trickster’ but when we look at what Loki does we can see that he is an Agent of Chaos who brings problems to the Gods, caused the first war in the worlds, the war between the Elves, cut of the Golden Hair of Sif (the corn) and fathered/mothered the Fenris Wolf, Midgard Serpent, and the Dark Goddess of Sorcery, Hel. He was also the figure that at the End of Time leads the Forces of Chaos against the Gods. Looked at in this light we can see that the more likely meaning of the term ‘Trickster’ would be the ‘Father of Lies’!

‘Loki’s Day’ has always been a Saturday, the day of Saturn, called Satæra by the English, and the day of Jehovah (El Shaddai) – the ‘Sabbath’. Whilst the Christian Church promoted a Judaic form of Christianity they could never impose the Day of Saturn (Loki) on our people, who maintained their worship on the Sunday – the Day of the Sun. It is usual to symbolize Saturn by a cube which is symbolic of ‘matter’ and the ‘material world’ and this tells us how devious the creators of the Judaeo-Christian Church really were – for they imposed the sign of the unequal-armed cross, which is in reality a cube which is unfolded! The cube has six sides which, when opened out, makes six sections of the cross. The number six is also the basis of the sequence 666 which is the ‘Mark of the Beast’ or ‘Electronic Chip’ that is already being tested in different parts of the world – mainly on animals, but also on humans at this time. The cube is also symbolised by the Hagal-Star or six-pointed star, which was transformed into the six-pointed 'Star of David'.

Loki is the son of Farbauti the Giant, and is not one of the Gods; he is always with the Gods since he is the blood-brother of Woden. We find that evil enters the world at the end of the Golden Age with the appearance of Gullveig (‘Gold-Way’), also known as Heid; this figure is a Dark Sorceress who introduces dark sorcery into the worlds, thus ending the Golden Age of Perfection. It has been said that she is also known as Angrboda whose heart was eaten by Loki after the Gods thrice-burned her. This seems logical since Loki takes into himself the most evil traits of the female polarity, whilst already having the most evil traits of the male polarity. This very much explains the world today which is ruled by a form of evil Dark Sorceress of Lunar Magic. This certainly explains the ‘witchcraft’ of today which is a female-dominated movement, indeed, dominated by militant feminists.

We can see here where the various accounts of an underground movement based upon a ‘Black Virgin’ or ‘Dark Mother’ was hidden below the surface of the ‘male’ Judaeo-Christianity’ (not truly male, for it was far more Lunar orientated, run by ‘men-without-chests’). Various books have sprung up on the subject of the darker type of goddess associated with Mary Magdalene as the ‘wife’ of ‘Jesus’. Since there is doubt as to the authenticity of the historical ‘Jesus’ this casts doubt on a ‘wife’ that he is said to have had. We have been plagued with the notion that everything we have sprung from the Middle-East, forced upon us by the Judaeo-Christian Church, and even when this declined we now have the same old trash promoted via a different method – this time promoting a ‘feminine’ version of the same Dark Lord, disguised as a ‘Black Virgin’, a sick parody of the true idea of a ‘Virgin Birth’.

We should also be aware how the Judaeo-Christian Church devised a way of usurping the ancient rule of Aryan Kingship through replacing it with its own papal authority. This was done through the forging of a document known as the Donation of Constantine which is supposed to date from 312 CE when Constantine was alleged to have been miraculously converted to Christianity. In this document – an obvious forgery – the Bishop of Rome was given his imperial symbols and regalia. Constantine had declared the Bishop of Rome to be the ‘Vicar of Christ’ with the status of emperor. This gave the ‘Vicar of Christ’ the authority to create or depose kings. A ceremony was devised where the blood of usurpers could be made sacred. Thus the ritual of anointment took precedence over the ancient Blood-Right.

Due to the forgery of this document and the whiles of the Judaeo-Christian Church the ancient Blood-Right of Sacral Kingship was replaced by Papal Authority and a sham anointment ceremony that ‘magically’ made the blood sacred. We have a clear account of how this practice was done in the ‘long-haired’ Merovingian Kings whose symbol was the Tribal Spear – the Spear of Woden, since they were most likely of the Divine Race of the Wolsungas. This ancient Germanic Heerkönig had their long hair shorn in a ceremony in which they were deposed and usurped by the Carolingians who were ‘anointed’ as vassals of the Pope.

In this way the Pope became the supreme mediator between God and Kings. Through the ritual of ‘anointment’ the Church had the right to make kings, and the Sacred Blood was subordinate to oil. Although the Merovingians were deposed of their right to kingship their descendants were said to have moved into the duchies of Brittany and Aquitaine, and the family was also said to have sought refuse here in England, establishing a branch called ‘Planta’ which was thus linked to the Plantagenets. There is a legend that tells of Bera VI who was nicknamed ‘The Architect’ who, under King Athelstan, was said to have practiced the ‘art of building’. It would seem that the establishment of masonry dates back to the time of Athelstan.

The usurpation of the power of kings was just the first stage in the downward fall into chaos and disorder. The next stage in the process was the complete destruction of the monarchy in various different countries of Europe, starting with the French Revolution which brought into being the power of the ‘Third Estate’ which was the rule of the merchant class which replaced that of the monarchs of Europe. Even though the monarchs existed in certain places, such as Britain, they had no real power and were merely there for show. The next phase was the disruption of the ‘Third Estate’ in order to bring the world under the control of ‘The People’ under what is called the ‘Fourth Estate’. When the ‘Twin Towers’ of Capitalism fell this finally heralded the ‘Age of the People’. Inevitably, ‘democracy’ gives way to a totalitarian state, and in this case a totalitarian world-state, which was known and warned of by many Greek philosophers. ‘Democracy’ is the rule of the ‘demos’ who are the lowest caste and whose rule is really an illusion since there are certain hidden forces that rule behind the scenes. Even in our times the rule of money holds power over the masses.

We can gleam some hints of the cosmic struggle that has always been undertaken by the Aryan Race in the story of Kai Khusrau in Iran; he is the Haosravah of the Zend Avesta and the Sushravah of the Rig Veda. This is the same story as Hamlet, for Kai Khusrau plays the part of ‘The Fool’ in this tale. In this the Turanian ruler, Afrasiyad, kills his nephew who is also his son-in-law. He then hides in the waters of a lake, assuming different shapes to avoid capture. From the Avesta we gleam that Kai Khusrau (Arya) and Afrasiyad (Turanian) contend for the Hvareno (the ‘Glory’ of ‘Charisma of Fortune’) which is held by the goddess Ardvi Sura Anahita. This is the ‘Glory that belongs to the Aryan Nations, born and unborn, and to the Holy Zarathustra’. Afrasiyad tries three times to steal the ‘Glory’ plunging into the lake Vurukasha but ‘the Glory escaped, the Glory fled away, the Glory changed its seat’ because it rightfully belonged to Kai Khusrau, for it stood for legitimacy and heavenly mandate.

The same type of tale is told of the Brisingamen Necklace which belonged to the goddess Freya, and which was stolen by Loki the Trickster. Loki too plunged into a lake of water to escape, but the necklace was retrieved by Hama-Heimdall. Since the term ‘Brising’ means ‘fire’ and thus ‘light’ this is the same concept as the Hvarena of Iran. Freya is thus the equivalent of Ardvi Sura Anahita and she is the Guardian of the Glory. This is why Loki could be seen as an (unwitting at first) enemy of the Gods, for he undoes everything that the Gods create.

The wars fought between the Arya and the Turanians seems to go back into the mists of time to the Gobi civilization that grew up in that area after Manu led the Arya out of Atlantis. Some accounts of the fall of Atlantis tell us that it was the usurpation of the Hvarena by the Turanians that led them to misuse the powers they stole and to use these powers for destructive purposes that caused the great cataclysm which sank the continent under the mighty waves. We should take note of these events which occurred many thousands of years ago, especially in view of the rise of China in the modern world. We have accounts of the Hvarena being stolen by the Turanians, but similar accounts of how the Arya gave certain knowledge to the Turanians which were used for evil and destructive purposes. We should be aware today how the ‘West’ has built up the Chinese economy through our own technology taken over there. The Chinese people are still no more than worker-slaves for an industry that mass-produces for the world consumers. This, of course, is just one way that the world could go, another East-West conflict that could parallel the ancient past.

Occult legend tells us quite a different story about the wars between the Arya and the Turanians. We are told that the Arya dwelt in the lands where now lies the Gobi Desert, and their lands extended further still. Wars broke out between the Arya and the Turanians, and the Arya were driven out of many parts of their lands. The Iranian prophet, Zarathustra, was summoned to the Holy Aryan Mountain (Mount Elbruz) where Ahura Mazda (‘God of Light’) appeared to him and told him that he must wage war against the Turanians and regain the Holy Land of the Arya. This he did and the Aryans regained their lands and peace reigned for a while.

Then Zarathustra was again summoned to the Holy Mountain of the Arya where Ahura Mazda appeared to him once more, telling him that the wars against the Turanians would break out again, and that the Arya would lose these wars and their lands. Zarathustra was livid and declared that he would wage a Holy War against the Turanians and annihilate them completely, thus staving off a defeat and loss of their lands. Ahura Mazda then showed him a vision in which he saw the Arya defeated in a great battle and forced to migrate westwards and northwards moving back to their Ur-Lands in the North. Leading the Aryan Tribes was the goddess Ardvi Sura Anahita who was the Soul of the Aryan Race. Zarathustra understood that what would happen was inevitable and was the destiny of the Arya.

It is also necessary to understand the two world wars that have been fought during the twentieth century, for these are not unique in the history of the world. To do so we need to go back in time to the great war outlined in the Mahabharata which was recorded in India. This was fought between the Pandavas and the Kauravas during the interval between the Dvapara and the Kali Yuga. It should be noted that this was fought at a time of transition between one world-age and the next world-age. This can be likened to the two world wars, and especially World War II which coincided with the ‘Yule’ period of the cycle, where the National Socialists ruled for 12 years over the ‘Twelve Nights (Years) of Yule’ (six years of peace and six of war).

The god-force Krishna – an avatar of Vishnu – was on the side of the Pandavas, and he was the force guiding the Pandava ruler Arjuna (a name which is similar to Aryan). We need to go into the story of the incarnation of Krishna if we are to understand the nature of this war. Krishna was the persecuted nephew of a cruel uncle named Kansa (or Kamsa) who was an Asura – ‘anti-god’). Kansa is warned through prophecies about the danger coming from an eighth son of Devaki and Vasudeva, so he kills six children of the couple, but the seventh, Balarama, and eighth, Krishna, are saved and go to live with herdsmen. There Krishna performs deeds of the ‘strong boy’, and then turns the hairs of his body into hundreds of wolves which harass and alarm the shepherds. Kansa hears the deeds of Krishna and Rama and attempts to slay them, but Krishna slays his uncle Kansa.

This story shows many familiarities with the tale of ‘Christ’, but it also shows similarities with the tales worked around The Fool, for this is just how Krishna acts to fool his uncle in order to slay him in revenge for his cruelty. The war is fought between brothers and kinsmen, just as the two world wars of this century were fought between Germanic kinsmen. It is thus now understandable that these world wars had to be fought because they were part of a myth that had to be lived. At the end of the war Krishna is taken up to the gods to become once more Vishnu – the ‘Blond God’. With the departure of Krishna the Kali Yuga begins; the Divine Hero closes the old era which then becomes Time Zero.

Another account of such a great war is to be found in the Ramayana in which Rama leads the war against the Lankas of Ceylon. During this war a series of battles are fought until eventually Rama slays Ravan and ends the war. From the accounts of the war in the Ramayana there was vast slaughter during these wars. Like the Trojan War recorded in Greek Mythology, these wars were fought over a queen – Sita the wife of Rama. This, once more, shows the power of myth and the archetypes involved, which arise again and again, age after age at a particular point in the cycle.

During these battles we find references to a ‘heavenly car’ which is sent to Rama by the god Indra. Rama was also given ‘shining arms and heavenly weapons’ as well as Indra’s chariot. At the end of the last battle Rama is said to have wielded ‘Brahma’s wrathful weapon flaming with celestial fire’ which is said to be a ‘weapon which Agasta had unto the hero given, winged as lightning dart of Indra, fatal as the bolt of heaven’ and was ‘wrapped in smoke and flaming flashes, speeding from the circled bow’. We are told that Rama was no mortal but the ‘messenger of fate’. We are also told that Ravan had won an ‘aerial car’ from the gods which was later given to Rama. It is interesting to note that this ‘aerial car’ was called the ‘flying Pushpa car, borne by swans’, the swan being a Hyperborean symbol.

Rama is the son of Dasa-ratha who ruled like the ancient Manu, father of mankind; we are told that ‘twice-born men (Arya) were free from passion, lust of gold, and impure greed’ and all was ordered through the Caste System. To win the hand of the princess Sita, Rama had to draw the Bow of Rudra which no mortal man had done. Rama drew the bow which snapped as he did so. For this he won Sita as his wife. Rama was said to be a descendant of the ‘ancient Solar Race (Aryan), and described as the warlike ‘Raghus’s Race’.

We can perhaps see certain resemblances to the Wolsunga Myth in the two world wars, where World War I represents Sigmund, whose sword is broken in defeat, World War II represents Siegfried who re-forges the sword but is slain through intrigue, and the final renewal of Nature is achieved by Parsifal bearing the Spear of Woden. Parsifal is the Divine Fool who is ‘resurrected’ at the turn of a new cycle – this is the Last Avatar.

We noted previously how an old Persian text tells us that at the ‘End of Time’ Asa and Aryaman will together come back upon the Earth to do battle with Az – the ‘Demon of Greed’. The world today is ruled by greed and envy, and this should tell us that the time is near for the appearance of the Last Avatar. The term Az can also be seen as The Serpent which at one level is the Midgard Serpent that encircles and enslaves the world. This is the ‘offspring of Loki’. Moving to Egyptian Myth we find that the Sun-God, Ra, does daily battle with the serpent-demon known as Set or Typhon, but also known as Apophis the Destroyer. It is important to recognize the symbolism of the Serpent.

In the Primal Aryan Myth of the Cattle-Raid we find that the cattle (wealth, but also knowledge, since this symbolism was replaced by gold) are stolen by the Serpent and that it is the role of Trita (‘Third’) to do blot to the war-god and to take back the stolen cattle. We have also seen how this relates to the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk where gold replaces the cattle which is symbolic of the Solar Knowledge. On one of the Horns of Gallehus we find a triple-headed figure carrying an axe, which seems to represent Thunor, and a triple-tailed serpent which would seem to be his enemy. It should also be noted that in the Nine Herbs Charm we find that Woden uses the Nine Glory-Twigs (Runes) in order to counter and slay the ‘adder’ (Serpent). It would thus seem obvious why Woden took up the Ancient Runes through his own self-sacrifice.

Woden, as the Horned One, is the Mystical Initiator into the Light of Higher Consciousness, who wields the Lightning-Bolt of Spiritual Illumination. He is the leader of the Divine Revolt against the tyranny of the Dark Lord (Demiurge), descending into matter in order to free the Divine Soul imprisoned in the darkness and ignorance of this world ruled by the Dark Lord (Demiurge). Woden is the God of Light who descends into the darkness and ignorance of matter in order to redeem his Folk and thus save the world. This is why Parsifal - The Third Wave - wields the Spear of Woden and defeats the Forces of Evil.
